How to make an ad for your product with AI: a practical guide from idea to final cut
AI video tools are now open to everyone, and a beautiful shot takes minutes. But an ad that sells isn’t a beautiful shot — it’s a clear idea, a short story, and imagery that looks like your brand in every second. This guide walks through the stages of making a product ad with AI, and what to prepare at each one.

1. Start with a feeling, not a tool
Before any software, write one sentence describing what you want viewers to feel when they see your product: luxury? freshness? trust? nostalgia? That sentence is the compass for every later decision, from the setting to the lighting and the rhythm of the edit.
In the “Heavenly Oud” ad we made for Amanzada Perfumes, for example, the idea was a visual journey through desert rock and sunlight that ends on the bottle — and every scene was built around it.
2. Prepare what protects your product’s identity
AI needs clear references to keep your product looking exactly like itself. Before starting, prepare:
- Clear, well-lit photos of the product from several angles.
- Your logo, brand colours and fonts.
- Examples of ads whose style you like, even from other industries.
- Any lines of text that must appear in the ad.
- The platforms it will run on — they decide the format: vertical for stories and reels, horizontal for YouTube and screens.
3. Script and storyboard before a single shot
The most expensive mistakes are the ones discovered after production. So we write the script scene by scene — what we see, what we hear, how long each scene lasts — then draw a storyboard before generating anything. This is where the big questions get answered: where does the story happen, who appears, and when does the product come in?
A simple rule: the shorter the ad, the clearer the idea needs to be. Short social ads have no time for long intros.
4. Production: consistency is the real challenge
Generating a beautiful scene is easy now. The hard part is keeping the same character, the same place and the same product across dozens of shots. That’s what separates a coherent ad from a pile of unrelated clips.
Pay special attention to product close-ups: generation tools can distort the text on a label or the details of a logo, so these shots are usually fixed with VFX until the product looks exactly right.
5. Edit, sound and colour grade
This is where shots become an ad: the rhythm of the edit, music, sound effects, and a colour grade that pulls every shot into one visual identity. Finally, a version is prepared for each platform in the right size.
6. Common mistakes to avoid
- Starting with the tool instead of the idea.
- An ad full of pretty shots with no story connecting them.
- A product that changes shape from shot to shot.
- Using real people’s faces or trademarks you don’t own without written permission.
- Not agreeing in advance on revision rounds and the delivery date.
How long does an AI ad take?
It depends on the ad’s length and number of scenes. But AI production needs no crew, no gear, no locations and no shoot days — and with a proven workflow you get a first cut in days, not weeks.
